Whether you're here for the Big Five or the big views, a week in South Africa promises epic experiences every single day. This vast and varied country offers a little bit of everything: wild safari drives, scenic coastal routes, vibrant city life, some brilliant shopping experiences, and serene vineyard stays.

For UAE travellers, it’s a particularly rewarding destination, thanks to  direct flights from Dubai to Johannesburg or Cape Town, and cooler temperatures during the Gulf summer. Here’s our curated 7-day itinerary, designed to give you a taste of South Africa’s best.

Day 1–2: Safari in Kruger National Park

Kick things off with a classic: a luxury safari experience in Kruger National Park. One of Africa’s most famous reserves, Kruger is home to elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, and buffalo – all in their natural habitat.

DW Travel can arrange private game drives, sunrise bush walks, and stays in high-end lodges where your morning coffee comes with a view of the savannah. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that combines thrilling wildlife encounters with five-star comfort – so it’s the ideal way to kick off your stay in South Africa.

Day 3: Fly to Cape Town and unwind on the coast

After your safari, fly south to Cape Town – a city like no other. Nestled between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, it's got rugged landscapes, rich history, and effortlessly chill vibes.

Spend your afternoon exploring the V&A Waterfront or relaxing on the golden sands of Camps Bay. Then, for the best views in and of the city, take the rotating cable car to the top of Table Mountain for panoramic views across the bay, the mountain and the sea.

Want to add an extra dose of luxury? Ask your DW Travel advisor to arrange a private sunset catamaran cruise or a scenic helicopter ride over the city.

Day 4: Cape Peninsula & penguins

Today’s all about jaw-dropping scenery. Drive (or let us book you a private driver) along the Cape Peninsula route, stopping at:

Chapman's Peak Drive – one of the world’s most scenic coastal roads

Cape of Good Hope – dramatic clifftop views and native wildlife

Boulders Beach – where you can meet South Africa’s most stylish locals: African penguins

This full-day tour is a favourite among DW Travel guests, and it’s easy to see why – the combination of nature, wildlife, and iconic landmarks makes for an unforgettable day.

Day 5: Stellenbosch wine country

An hour from Cape Town lies Stellenbosch – South Africa’s wine capital. Here, rolling vineyards and Dutch Cape architecture create the perfect setting for a slower-paced day.

Take a cellar tour and enjoy a guided tasting at a family-run estate. Many vineyards also offer halal food pairings and scenic picnics in the gardens.

For those travelling with kids, there are family-friendly farms with petting zoos, nature walks, and grape juice tastings, making it a perfect stop for all ages.

Day 6: History and heritage in Cape Town

Return to the city for a day of culture and reflection. Start with a visit to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. The boat ride offers incredible views of the city skyline, while the guided tour provides powerful historical insight.

Back on the mainland, explore Bo-Kaap – known for its colourful houses, rich Cape Malay culture, and traditional cuisine. You can even book a private cooking class to try your hand at local favourites like bobotie or samosas.

Day 7: Shop, stroll and soak it all in

Wrap up your trip with a leisurely day of shopping and relaxing. If you missed the V&A Waterfront the first time, then spend the day browsing designer boutiques, souvenir shops, and waterfront cafés. On a sunny day, walking Sea Point Promenade down to Saunder’s Rocks Beach is a perfect way to relax and explore – or maybe head to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden for a peaceful stroll among South Africa’s native plants and flowers.

If you're not quite ready to say goodbye, DW Travel can also arrange extensions – whether it's a few extra nights in the Winelands, a beach escape in Durban, or a luxury train journey on the Rovos Rail.

We think that sounds like a pretty perfect week – but remember, DW Travel specialises in bespoke South Africa itineraries tailored to UAE residents. From seamless flight bookings to private game reserves and luxury accommodation, we’ll make every moment memorable.
