Best places to visit on one of our Poland travel packages
From snow-capped mountains to edgy and industrial ports, quaint Old Towns to expansive forests, there’s so much to see and do on one of our Poland package holidays. Here are just some of the highlights…
1. Warsaw
Warsaw’s pastel-hued Old Town may look hundreds of years old, but what you may not know as you roam the winding streets, is that it was rebuilt after it was destroyed in World War II. On one of our Poland holidays, you can visit the Royal Castle and Museum of Warsaw, and dine at traditional Polish restaurants serving hearty pierogi and bigos.
Head to the New Town and to the top of the Palace of Culture and Science, for views of the city. It’s a stark reminder of its communist past, which you can learn more about on a free walking tour. Lazienki Park is also not to be missed, and is even home to free Chopin concerts in the summer.
2. Krakow
It goes without saying that you should spend a few days of your holiday in Poland with a trip to its second city, Krakow. Bustling with tourists year-round, discover churches, museums, fountains, and markets in its Old Town, which boasts a mixture of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture.
People watch at the outdoor cafés, shop at the lively market stalls in Rynek Główny (the main square), and pay a visit to the Royal Wawel Castle, which dates back to the 11th century. Krakow is also a great base if you want to take a day trip to Auschwitz and the Wieliczka salt mines.
3. Gdansk
This northern port city is great to visit at any time of the year on one of our Poland tour packages, with mild springs and summers, crisp autumns, and cosy Christmas vibes in the winter. Walk down the Royal Way in the Old Town, which connects you to key sights including the Golden Gate, the Prison Tower, and Neptune’s Fountain.
Peruse the amber shops on pretty Mariacka Street, and marvel at St. Mary’s Church, which is one of the largest brick churches in the world! Finally, spend your evenings at the Motawa Canal waterfront, which is lined with cafes and restaurants offering the best food in the city.
4. Zakopane
A charming town nestled high up in the Tatra Mountains, many tourists visit Zakopane as a day trip from Krakow, but it’s worthy of a visit in its own right. In the spring and summer months, enjoy brisk mountain hikes – there are an impressive 275 marked routes to choose from in the national park!
During the winter months, bring your salopettes and get ready for some of the best skiing and snowboarding Poland has to offer. Kasprowy Wierch and Nosal are two of the most popular resorts, and if you visit on one of our Poland holidays at the end of January, you might even get to enjoy the Ski Jumping World Cup, which is held here!
5. Poznan
Poland’s fifth-largest city, Poznan can sometimes be overlooked in favour of the bright lights of Warsaw and Krakow, but it’s still well worth a visit! Begin your exploration at the Old Market Square in the centre of the Old Town. Its pastel-coloured buildings are intricately ornate, and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale, with how pretty it is. And, if you head to the Town Hall at noon, you’ll get to watch a surprise performance from some mechanical goats!
Other things to do in Poznan as part of our Poland package holidays include visiting Stary Browar, an old brewery that has been transformed into a shopping centre; heading to Cathedral Island where – as you can imagine! – Poznan Cathedral is located; and embarking on a self-guided graffiti tour, with street art found all over the city.
